LONGMEADOW - Michael B. DeRose, 60, of 79 Wimbleton Drive, died Tuesday, May 31, 2005 in Baystate Medical Center. Born in Northampton, MA the son of Raymond and Mary (Messersmith) DeRose, Michael was a Springfield resident before moving to Longmeadow 34 years ago. He was a retired Physics teacher at Enfield High School and a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Longmeadow. Michael was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 90, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, the Connecticut Teachers Association, and the National Education Association .He was predeceased by his father, Raymond and his son Timothy, who died in 2003. He leaves his wife Dorothy (Carnall) DeRose; a daughter, Katie DeRose (Bryan Schmutz) of Agawam; his mother Mary DeRose of Longmeadow; three brothers: Peter DeRose (Anna) of New Hampshire, John DeRose (Ruth O'Connell) of Charlton, and Robert DeRose of Colrain: a sister Mary Clark (Allan) of North Carolina , his special little people Charles and Lauren Baranowski, Madison and Nicholas Eline, Jake and Jenna Baranowski, Lee and Mia DeRose, many cherished nieces and nephews including four godsons: Matthew LaCroix, Richard DeRose, James Baranowski and Scott Bassett, and his very special dog and best friend "Gypsy". Mike was the cornerstone of the family, holding his family and friends in very high regard. He was sincerely interested in the lives of all the people he touched. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 3 at 9:30 AM in St Mary's Church, Longmeadow Street, Longmeadow.
